New approaches for cloud and precipitation remote sensing

The Jülich Observatory for Cloud Evolution (JOYCE) operates ground-based active and passive remote sensing instruments for cloud and precipitation observations.
Central goals of JOYCE are:

  • High-resolution and state-of-the-art cloud and precipitation observations using instrument synergy
  • Standardized and documented operation procedures for cloud and precipitation research
  • Centralized access for external users to instruments, operation and observation platforms
  • Easy and open access to database and observations of all instruments

JOYCE-CF is based on a successful collaboration between the University of Cologne, the University of Bonn and Forschungszentrum Jülich starting more than a decade ago. Further information about JOYCE and related projects can be found in the links below.
